How long have you been a Virtual Assistant (VA) and how did you end up doing what you do now?
I started my online business back in 2001 with a focus on bookkeeping and general admin tasks. After a few years of this kind of work, I decided I didn’t enjoy bookkeeping and wanted to do more than what I was doing. I’m very much pro self-improvement, so Coaches and Online Teachers were a natural attraction when deciding where to channel my years of experience in supporting online business owners.
I’ve always loved creating positive words of encouragement for women. I knew I liked working in social media, social media visuals as well as creating printables that helped people focus and get things done. I like things done! I’m an implementor. Talking is great, but sooner rather than later, I want to start doing! I also enjoy reducing stress for other people so working in the background of webinars, which can be stressful, is a great fit for me (and my clients like it too!)
The years 2016 and 2017 have been all about me taking up the online roles of Content Management, Social Media Support, Social Media Visuals and Graphics, “Get it done” printables, and live webinar support. I’ve turned all of that into packages specifically for Coaches, Online Teachers, and people who make other people’s hopes and dreams a reality.
What types of packages do you offer?
I provide 3 support packages and 1 service package.
What’s the difference between a support package and a service package?
- A support package is a defined and recurring monthly list of services that you want completed on a monthly basis at a flat rate price.
- A service package is NOT monthly but provides described services as you need them (No recurring charges. You don’t pay again until you need that service again).
What support packages do you have?
I currently have 3 monthly support packages (listed below). While there is some overlap, each one has more services available than the previous. All of my packages, service and support, are designed to help you grow and delegate at your own pace, but all of them are there to help you execute your plans and reach your goals.
What service packages do you have? Currently, I have 1 service package but will be adding more in 2018!
Do you work by the hour?
No, I’m sorry I don’t. It takes a lot of time to track time. That’s time that could be used to help my clients instead. Other reasons are: Some of my work is creative (like social media graphics or content repurposing), some of my work is, what I call, nuts-and-bolts work (like proofing and formatting blog posts). While I’m always sensitive to deadlines and due dates, creative projects take longer than non-creative. When it comes to matters of the heart that are part of my creative work, I can’t produce good results with a clock ticking away at me. I also can’t bill my client for a creative project that took a while because I was pondering a message or checking out graphics to see what would be a good fit for the message. Also, with hourly billing, you end up with sticker shock during busier months or you lose money with some VAs because you didn’t use your hours fast enough.
You and I decide in advance what you want done on a regular basis. I simply make sure it gets done, and you get one flat rate price you can depend on each month (no surprises). What you don’t get is the additional stress of running your business all on your own.
Who are your ideal clients?
My ideal clients are people who value their time, their home and family life, and their work life. They’ve been in business for at least a couple of years, have a company that is generating revenue, have their own business coach, and have enough work to delegate. You love your business but don’t want to be the only person getting it all done. Example clients would be Business/Life/Personal/Nutrition/Coaches – especially for women, as well as online course creators, content marketers, and professional bloggers.
Who is NOT your ideal client?
Just as you choose your Virtual Assistant carefully, I choose who I work with and support carefully as well. Respectfully, please understand: I do not work with micro-managers or businesses owners that don’t have clarity on what they want to accomplish or doesn’t take responsibility for running their business.
I’ve tried delegating work in the past, but I had a hard time with it. What can I do?
